Billing at Stirling Anaesthesia Services

  • At our practice, your safety and care come first. To keep billing simple and efficient, we don’t bill in-house. Instead, we partner with vetted medical billing companies that specialise in claims and account management and comply with POPIA Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (Act No. 4 of 2013) and healthcare regulations.
  • Why we use billing partners
  • • Accurate, efficient processing of medical aid claims
    • Clear, itemised statements and dedicated billing support
    • Allows our team to focus fully on your care
  • What you can expect
  • • Invoices/correspondence may come directly from one of our trusted billing companies.
    • They will submit claims to your medical aid and follow up as needed.
    • If any co-payments or balances are due, they’ll contact you with the details.
  • Questions about your account?
  • Please contact the billing company named on your invoice for any queries.
  • We’re committed to transparent, hassle-free billing—so you can focus on your recovery.

Billing Policies

  • Your anaesthetic account is rendered completely separate from the hospital and your surgeon's account and remains your responsibility.
All billing is done in accordance with the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists Private Practice and Coding Guidelines of 2021.
  • Your account is a summation of the following:
    Pre-operative consultation and risk assessment
    Procedure fee
    Time-based anaesthetic fee
Other additional fees related to risks and anaesthetic procedures

Our tariffs and rates are based on our training, expertise, experience and practice costs.
We are contracted in with Discovery & GEMS medical aid.
Each associate has their own payment arrangements with some of the healthcare funders. If you are a member of one of these medical aids, there may be no co-payment payable. If you are not a member of these medical aids and your condition is not listed as a PMB (“prescribed minimum benefit”), then a co-payment on your account is likely. This is dependant on your plan option and fund rules with regard to certain procedures, which may be limited or excluded, and still lead to a co-payment. Please contact us if further information is needed.

For a more detailed explanation of the billing policy, please contact the relavant doctor's agency.
Currently we use 300% of the Discovery Health Rate (DHR) as our benchmark. We reserve the right to give a discount to both insured and private patients which allows for contracted rates in addition to private rates.
